OCR Defined

OCR, which stands for Optical Character Recognition, is a method that converts text found within an image into a format readable by computers.

Adding More OCR Languages

  1. Open Windows' "Language settings" window (use the search function to locate it).Win key).
  2. Under the "Preferred languages" section, select the "Add a language" button.
  3. Choose the desired language for installation, then click "Next."
  4. Uncheck all "Optional language features" as they are not necessary for OCR.
  5. Verify that "Optical character recognition" appears under "Required language features"; if not, the language does not offer this feature. Proceed by clicking "Install."
  6. Allow Windows to finish the language installation in the background.
  7. After installation is complete, the new language will be visible in the language drop-down menu when the ShareX OCR window is opened again.
